Shutter painting
Finishing for suitable timber shutters with attention to slats, hinges and moving clearances.
Preparation comes first
Check the existing coating and operation before removing or preparing shutters. Label removable components and record hardware arrangements. Delicate slats and built-up edges need a different approach from broad wall surfaces.
Agreeing the finish
Agree which faces are included and whether the work will be carried out in place or after removal. Colour, sheen and curing requirements should be confirmed alongside the reinstallation arrangements.
For listed buildings and conservation areas, check the proposed work before starting. See Historic England’s advice on redecoration.
