Plaster repairs and preparation
Local surface repairs assessed before the decorating specification is agreed.
Preparation comes first
Cracks, hollow areas, loose surfaces and staining can have different causes. Describe any recurring defects or previous repairs when making an enquiry. Movement or moisture may require investigation beyond the decorating scope.
Agreeing the finish
Define the extent of filling, patching or replastering separately. Existing plaster type, drying conditions and the chosen coating all affect the sequence. Agree how repaired areas will be assessed before the finishing coats.
For listed buildings and conservation areas, check the proposed work before starting. See Historic England’s advice on redecoration.

Location & access
Plan the work around the property.
