Wall panelling painting
Painted panelling with considered sheen, clear mouldings and consistent junctions.
Preparation comes first
Confirm whether the panels are timber, board or another material and inspect joints and fixings. New work and previously painted panelling need different preparation. Agree which repairs belong to the joinery scope.
Agreeing the finish
Look at a sample under the room’s lighting before selecting sheen. Dark colours can make surface variation more apparent. Record panel faces, trims, skirtings and adjoining walls separately so the finish schedule is clear.
For listed buildings and conservation areas, check the proposed work before starting. See Historic England’s advice on redecoration.
