Decoration after repairs
Redecoration following remedial work, with the affected surfaces and scope clearly recorded.
Preparation comes first
Before covering staining or damaged surfaces, establish that the underlying repair has been addressed and the surfaces are suitable for decoration. Keep photographs and the agreed repair scope available for the quotation.
Agreeing the finish
Distinguish local making good from full-wall or full-room redecoration. Matching older colours and sheen may be difficult. Any insurer’s approval, claim decision or reimbursement is separate from the decorating quotation.
For listed buildings and conservation areas, check the proposed work before starting. See Historic England’s advice on redecoration.
