Garage and utility painting

Wall, ceiling and suitable joinery finishes for practical working and storage spaces.

Preparation comes first

Check for moisture, powdery surfaces and residues before choosing a coating. Confirm what must be moved and how equipment, shelving and services will be protected. Floor finishes need a separate condition assessment.

Agreeing the finish

Specify for how the space is used, including cleaning and ventilation needs. List exposed masonry, plaster, timber and metal separately. Agree any excluded floor work or repairs before a programme is set.

For listed buildings and conservation areas, check the proposed work before starting. See Historic England’s advice on redecoration.
