Belgravia Painters & Decorators

New build decorating

Agree surface readiness and the boundary with building defects.

What to consider

Identify new plaster, previously finished surfaces and joinery supplied with a factory coating. Resolve the responsibility for outstanding defects before decorating. The finish schedule should state the preparation, materials and final inspection sequence around other trades.

Make the scope specific

Include a room list, photographs and the surfaces you want decorated. Describe occupancy and access, any repairs being investigated and other work planned at the property. Agree colours and materials against the actual conditions.

For listed buildings and conservation areas, check the proposed work before starting. See Historic England’s advice on redecoration.
