Private Members' Club Redecoration

The Challenge

The immovable deadline of the club's reopening date meant that all work had to be completed within a strict four-week window. Many surfaces featured original 18th-century panelling that required the most careful preparation. The club's valuable art collection remained in situ throughout, demanding rigorous protection protocols.

Our Approach

We operated in two shifts to maximise productive hours without compromising quality. Every painting and fixture was individually wrapped in acid-free tissue and protective board before any preparation began. The historic panelling was cleaned with a mild sugar soap solution, lightly abraded by hand, and finished with two coats of oil-based eggshell to maintain the traditional lustre expected in a building of this pedigree. Wallpapers in the dining room were carefully stripped and replaced with a hand-blocked design from Hamilton Weston. All work was documented photographically for the club's archive.

The Result

The club reopened on schedule, with members remarking on the refreshed atmosphere while noting that the essential character of the rooms had been faithfully preserved. The committee chairman wrote formally to commend the team's professionalism and the quality of the finished work.
