Case Study

Stucco Villa Full Exterior Repaint

A double-fronted stucco villa on one of Notting Hill's most photographed garden squares required a complete exterior repaint. The render, windows, railings, and front door all needed attention after years of exposure to London's weather.

The Challenge

The stucco facade had developed a network of fine cracks that, if left untreated, would allow moisture ingress and cause further deterioration. The property is within a conservation area, meaning all colours and finishes needed approval from the local authority. Scaffolding had to be erected on a busy residential street with restricted parking and tight access.

Our Approach

We coordinated scaffolding erection with the council's highways team to minimise disruption. The stucco was thoroughly washed, and all cracks were opened up, filled with a flexible masonry filler, and sanded smooth. A stabilising solution was applied to the entire facade before two coats of breathable masonry paint were rolled on. All sash windows were stripped to sound paint, reprimed, and finished. The front door was taken back to bare timber and given a traditional high-gloss treatment. Railings were wire-brushed, primed with a rust-inhibiting primer, and finished in gloss.

The Result

The villa now presents a pristine, uniform facade that complements the surrounding garden square beautifully. The conservation officer commended the colour choice and quality of finish during the completion inspection.

The house looks magnificent. Our neighbours have been stopping us in the street to ask who did the work. The front door colour was an inspired suggestion from the team.
