Contemporary Gallery Weekend Repaint

The Challenge

The forty-eight-hour window from Saturday morning to Sunday evening left no margin for error. Previous exhibitions had left hundreds of fixing holes, scuff marks, and areas of uneven sheen across the gallery walls. The ground-floor space features a six-metre-high feature wall that required specialist access equipment. All work needed to be completed without any dust contamination that could affect the gallery's climate-controlled environment.

Our Approach

We deployed a team working in carefully coordinated shifts across the weekend. The first phase focused entirely on preparation: filling every fixing hole and blemish, sanding smooth, and spot-priming all repairs. We used dust-extraction sanding equipment throughout to maintain air quality. The feature wall was accessed using a lightweight scaffold tower. Once preparation was complete, we applied two full coats of premium matt emulsion using a combination of airless spray and back-rolling to achieve a perfectly uniform, stipple-free finish. Each coat was allowed to dry fully under the gallery's own ventilation system before the next was applied. Final inspection was carried out under the gallery's own track lighting to ensure consistency.

The Result

The gallery reopened Monday morning with pristine, uniformly white walls ready for the new exhibition. The gallery owner confirmed that the finish was indistinguishable from the original plaster skim, with no visible repairs, lap marks, or sheen variation under even the most intense directional lighting. The gallery has since engaged us as their ongoing maintenance painters.
