Compare the same work
Check the surfaces included in each quotation. Walls and ceilings may be listed while doors, frames, cupboards or repairs are excluded. Ask for uncertain items to be clarified so the prices relate to the same work.
Read the preparation
Look for a description of surface preparation, protection and materials. Ask how existing defects are treated and which repairs are outside the scope. Brand names and a room count are not enough to explain a specification.
Understand the agreement
Confirm the price basis, any applicable tax, payment arrangements, programme assumptions and change procedure. Request the applicable terms before instructing the work. Keep the agreed specification and later changes together.
